High-OH fiber transmits down to 250 nm, covering UV and visible wavelengths that low-OH fiber cannot reach efficiently — useful for UV-VIS spectroscopy or excimer laser delivery. The trade-off is a shorter long-wavelength cutoff (around 1200 nm) versus low-OH fiber's 2200 nm.
