It combines high core absorption (30±5 dB/m at 980 nm) for very short gain lengths with high negative dispersion (around -36 ps/nm/km at 1550 nm), both useful for managing pulse shape and duration in ultrafast amplifier stages.
The fiber's built-in negative dispersion (-30 to -50 ps/nm/km) can offset positive dispersion elsewhere in the cavity, reducing the need for separate dispersion-compensation components in short-pulse systems.
Around 20±10% pump-to-signal conversion efficiency, strong given how short the resulting amplifier stage can be.
