SBS-suppressed delivery fibers
Polarization-maintaining passive fibers engineered to raise the SBS threshold for high-peak-power, single-frequency 1064 and 1550 nm laser systems.
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) limits the maximum power of narrow-band fiber lasers (linewidth less than 100 MHz). To suppress the gain of SBS for a fixed MFD, we use a specialty-designed, multi-layer, multi-component doped core. This allows us to suppress the SBS gain by 3-5 dB compared to standard, uniformly doped Ge-doped passive fibers with the same MFD. Our SBS-suppressed delivery fiber series is designed for use in the pigtails of output components, such as isolators, collimators, and pump-and-signal combiners, of high-peak-power, single-frequency lasers operating near 1064 and 1550 nm. The fiber is intended for use in systems that can maintain polarization.
